The Aesthete Blogger Award

Wow, first off, I’d like to say a huge thank you to B over at Mind Beauty Simplicity for nominating me for this award. These are so much fun. It always blows my mind a little whenever my casual little blog is recognized among real, professional bloggers. You can find B’s award post here, and make sure to subscribe! She has a ton of super great content about lifestyle and living intentionally. She also recently got back on Instagram (yay!) which you can find here. She honestly has one of my favourite blogs out there, so definitely check her out.

About the Aesthete Blogger Award

“This award is to honor every creative person, irrespective of their number of followers and views. Because, as long as you create, that is all that matters. This award is for those bloggers who put an insane amount of thought in each of their posts and for those who spread creativity like wildfire! Just wow!”

  • Nominate 7 people and notify them by commenting on their posts; spread some love!
  • Ask your nominees 4 questions.
  • Share something you created.

The Aesthete Questions:

Tell Me Something About This World You Admire?

One of the biggest things I’ve always admired about the world, specifically about humanity, are people who have the drive and motivation to match their ambition. I have tons of ambition, but I often struggle with maintaining the motivation to actually reach my goals… Which is why I so love seeing that in other people. Since becoming active in the blogging and writing community, I’ve met so many wonderful people who embody these traits. It’s so inspiring and it makes me want to be the best version of myself.

What is Your Favorite Form of Creativity?

If I had to choose something aside from writing, I’d probably say photography or graphic design. I consider myself a multi-disciplinary creative professional, and those are probably the two things I do most outside of writing. Graphic design is a skill I’ve picked up more recently (in university and through my job) but my interest in photography sparked years ago in college; we had an awesome teacher and his passion for it was contagious. There’s nothing quite like that feeling you get when you know you just got “the shot” without even having to look at it.

Mind Beauty Simplicity [B’s] Questions:

Describe your blog theme / aesthetic in one word.

Oh, that’s easy: chaos.

My blog is basically a mess of spilled thoughts, ramblings and passion projects. It represents the chaos inside my brain quite well, actually, but unfortunately I don’t have a real niche or aesthetic. I know, I know. Big blogging no-no. Ha!

What goals do you have for your blog in 2022?

I have a lot of other projects going on this year, so unfortunately the blog has taken a bit of a backseat and there hasn’t been much room to think about my plans for it. But now that I’m thinking of it, I think I’d really like to get to 200 WordPress followers. So if you use WordPress and are into a variety of different types of content from the eyes of a snowflake millennial, hit that follow button!

What is something you are looking forward to this year?

My baby sister is getting married this year! I’m in the bridal party, so we have a ton of exciting wedding-related events to look forward to. She’s having an “early 2000s” themed bachelorette weekend in June, which is going to be a total blast. She’s a nurse, so I know she could definitely use the break as well. Pandemic pending, of course. Sigh.

What’s one interesting fact about you?

Here’s one that few of my writing friends know about: I used to be really into singing and playing guitar/piano. I wasn’t very good, in the grand scheme of things. Not good enough to make a living from it. But I enjoyed it a lot, as a hobby. Unfortunately I lost my passion for it a few years ago and haven’t quite been able to get it back. A lot of it is trauma-related, but that’s a story for another time. Possibly. Either way, these days my guitar and keyboard basically act as dust catchers… But I don’t have the heart to get rid of them. Eventually I’ll get back into it, I’m sure.

And finally, my nominations…

Drum roll, please! I tried to nominate people who (as far as I know) haven’t participated yet, but if you have then my apologies for the double-nomination. That just means you’re extra-talented! Either way, congrats and I can’t wait to read your posts! I nominate:

Now for my four questions. I can’t even express how long it took me to come up with these; I’m terrible with icebreaker-type activities. Anyway, I digress. Here they are:

  1. If you could have any writer, author or blogger write a guest post on your blog/website, who would it be?
  2. If you had to pick one piece of your own writing that you’re most proud of, what would it be? Drop that link!
  3. What is your biggest guilty pleasure?
  4. Where is the furthest from home you’ve ever travelled?

Thanks again for the nomination, B. This was a blast. Don’t forget to check her out over at Mind Beauty Simplicity! And a big thank you as well to Ashmita for creating this award and bringing joy to so many small creators. I hope everyone has had a wonderful first week of 2022!
